Kim Won-seop, advisor to Poongsan Group, was elected as the 19th president of the Korea Professional Golf Association (KPGA).
The ‘General Meeting for the Election of the 19th KPGA President’ held at the KPGA Building in Seongnam-si, Gyeonggi-do from 2 PM on the 23rd, opened with 91.04% of the votes attended by 183 out of 201 delegates.
As a result of the vote count, candidate No. 2 Kim Won-seop, who received 108 votes out of a total of 183, defeated candidate No. 1, current Chairman Koo Ja-cheol, who received 75 votes, and was elected as the 19th president.
President-elect Kim Won-seop said, “I will do my best to help Korean men’s professional golf leap to greater heights,” and added, “I would like to express my sincere gratitude to all the members who have shown their support.”
He then said emphatically, “I will think about it for KPGA right now and move forward.”
At the beginning of the day, there was some confusion in the counting, but it was completed smoothly after the ballots were immediately rechecked.
President-elect Kim Won-seop will serve as KPGA president for four years from January 2024 to 2027.
